A Sluice Gate is used to control the flow or level of a liquid and consists of a sliding door controlled by a mechanically operated spindle, which moves over an aperture in a frame, which in turn is secured onto a structure.
Penstocks can be fabricated of many materials, but the strength and flexibility of steel and stainless steel penstocks make it best suited for the range of pressure fluctuations met in turbine operation. Steel and stainless steel penstocks should be constructed in accordance with the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, VIII, Unfired Pressure Vessels. BEPeterson is National Board certified to ASME section VIII, Div1.
Fabrication of penstocks requires a variety of special machines and equipment, such as rolls, presses, flame-cutting tools, welding machines, testing, radiographic, and handling equipment.
BEPeterson is an ISO 9001:2008 certified metal fabricator. We follow the most stringent manufacturing processes and are driven to maintain the highest industrial quality standards. We are capable of supplying standard and site specific water control solutions, manufactured from aluminum, carbon steel or stainless steel. All of our products are manufactured to meet customer specifications under full compliance with rigorous engineering and quality scrutiny.
BEPeterson is an ASME Pressure Vessel certified supplier. As such, all of the engineering and design capabilities used in ASME code work can be applied to our welding, quality and inspection of all penstock welded pipe sections.
